In reading Genesis, you will notice that Abraham built an altar to the Lord whenever he came to a new place (Genesis 12:6-9 & 13:4,18). At the altar, he would call on the name of the Lord. Altars represent the memorial place where we encounter God. It may not be a physical place but we definitely need to establish one in our hearts.
