In the parable of the sower in Matthew 13, we read of the seed that was sown along the path but was snatched away because the person does not UNDERSTAND the message whereas those who hear and UNDERSTAND yield a harvest of hundred times fold. So, the difference is understanding. How do we ensure we understand the Word of God? Do pray, go to church and listen to the sermon and even stay back for Bible Study! We must flee, or none of us will escape from Absalom. We must leave immediately, or he will move quickly to overtake us and bring ruin on us and put the city to the sword.” To me, as a parent, it is so sad to note that King David got to run for his life from his own son, Absalom. His own son schemed for 40 years (15:7) to topple his own father - could you believe that? This is our Bible - it will not hide - all the successes and failures of God's people are truthfully reported. Why did King David suffer this?
