Guard Our Motives
In 2 Kings 20:12-17, recorded the incident of King Babylon, Berodach-Baladan the son of Baladan, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he heard that Hezekiah had been sick. And Hezekiah was attentive to them, and showed them all the house of his treasures—... When prophet Isaiah asked him, “What have they seen in your house?” So Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house; there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.” ‘Behold, the days are coming when all that is in your house, and what your fathers have accumulated until this day, shall be carried to Babylon; nothing shall be left,’ says the Lord. How we must be careful of our motives! If our motive is to show off ourselves and to show how talented we are as opposed to glorify God, it amounts to pride and pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18). Remember 2 Corinthians 10:17-18, "he who glories, let him glory in the Lord .” For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends. https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
