1 Samuel 2:30 says, 'For God will honor those who honor Him, but those who despise Him will be cursed! There was a true incident that showed this principle in 1 Kings 17:12-14 whereby a widow who had no bread but only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar OBEYED and HONOURED the Lord by making a small cake from what she had and offered to prophet Elijah. What happened next? "The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah." Our Lord is Jehovah Jireh! The Lord Who Provides! We must flee, or none of us will escape from Absalom. We must leave immediately, or he will move quickly to overtake us and bring ruin on us and put the city to the sword.” To me, as a parent, it is so sad to note that King David got to run for his life from his own son, Absalom. His own son schemed for 40 years (15:7) to topple his own father - could you believe that?
