1 Samuel 2:29,30 recorded that God had promised the priest, Eli that members of his family would minister before God forever. But subsequently when he honored his sons more than God by giving in to the sons and did not discipline them, the Lord declared: ‘Far be it from Me! Those who honor Me I will honor, but those who despise Me will be disdained'. This is a serious warning to parents who are child-oriented and who put the children's interests above all else. The most often paraphrased is from Proverbs 13:24, "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes." (King James Version.) Other passages are Proverbs 23:14, "Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell," and Proverbs 29:15, "The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame." O, dear Lord, how we need Your guidance and wisdom to teach and guide our children. Reveal to us more from Your Scriptures, In Your Precious Name, Amen! https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
