Day 314: Psalm 119:81-88, Proverbs 16:7-9, Luke 4, Lamentations 5-6

Be Cautious

From today's reading of Luke, we can learn 3 things how temptations come about. 1. Temptations occur to everyone even to those who are spiritual. 2. The devil took the opportunity when we are weak, just as when Jesus was hungry after 40 days of not eating anything. It means we have to be more alert when we are tired or busy. 3. The devil attacked by saying to Jesus which means by words. Similarly, the devil put thoughts in our mind. We have to be cautious of what enter our mind, hence the exhortation by Apostle Paul to wear the helmet of salvation to protect our mind (Ephesians 6:17). At the same time, we must fill our mind with the Word of God on a DAILY basis as our adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). Day 69: Psalm 49, Proverbs 25:4-6, 1 Corinthians 5, Genesis 49-50 Do Our Utmost For His Highest Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? But as for you, you meant evil against me; but  God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it  is this day, to save many people alive. Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them. We may go around feeling very miserable, angry and unproductive. However, Joseph in the Old Testament did not have such feelings but instead he went about doing his best in whatever tasks given to him, knowing that God is in charge and in control. Day 187 - Have Fear of God Read: Psalm 145; Proverbs 6:28-31; Revelation 6; 2 Samuel 15-16 2 Samuel 15 & 16 15:13 A messenger came and told David, “The hearts of the people of Israel are with Absalom.”14 Then David said to all his officials who were with him in Jerusalem, “Come! We must flee, or none of us will escape from Absalom. We must leave immediately, or he will move quickly to overtake us and bring ruin on us and put the city to the sword.” To me, as a parent, it is so sad to note that King David got to run for his life from his own son, Absalom. His own son schemed for 40 years (15:7) to topple his own father - could you believe that?
