We may have our own standard when we gauge a person, be it to employ the person or to select a person for some kind of projects. What are our measuring standards? In I Samuel 16:7, 18, we have a glimpse of how God made the selection. The Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the  Lord  does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Further criterias are such as one who is  skillful in whatever his hands find to do, a mighty man of valor, a man of war (a spirit of seeing that justice is done and not allowing God's Name to be defied - 1 Samuel 17:45) , prudent in speech and the Lord  is with him. Day 187 - Have Fear of God Read: Psalm 145; Proverbs 6:28-31; Revelation 6; 2 Samuel 15-16 2 Samuel 15 & 16 15:13 A messenger came and told David, “The hearts of the people of Israel are with Absalom.”14 Then David said to all his officials who were with him in Jerusalem, “Come! We must flee, or none of us will escape from Absalom. We must leave immediately, or he will move quickly to overtake us and bring ruin on us and put the city to the sword.” To me, as a parent, it is so sad to note that King David got to run for his life from his own son, Absalom. His own son schemed for 40 years (15:7) to topple his own father - could you believe that?
