The Psalmist in Psalm 119:49-50 said this, "Remember the word to Your servant, Upon which You have caused me to hope. This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word has given me life." God's Word gives hope, gives comfort and gives life! Therefore, the Psalmist further said in verses 51-52, that , "I do not turn aside from Your law. I remembered Your judgments of old, O Lord , And have comforted myself. " Even in Proverbs 28:7, it is stated that "Whoever keeps the law is a discerning son" and in verse 9, "One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination." Day 187 - Have Fear of God Read: Psalm 145; Proverbs 6:28-31; Revelation 6; 2 Samuel 15-16 2 Samuel 15 & 16 15:13 A messenger came and told David, “The hearts of the people of Israel are with Absalom.”14 Then David said to all his officials who were with him in Jerusalem, “Come! We must flee, or none of us will escape from Absalom. We must leave immediately, or he will move quickly to overtake us and bring ruin on us and put the city to the sword.” To me, as a parent, it is so sad to note that King David got to run for his life from his own son, Absalom. His own son schemed for 40 years (15:7) to topple his own father - could you believe that? This is our Bible - it will not hide - all the successes and failures of God's people are truthfully reported. Why did King David suffer this?
