As said, King David grew stronger and stronger (2 Samuel 3:1), so much so now Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, along with cedar logs and carpenters and stonemasons, and they built a palace for David.Wow! What would be our response when king of another nation came all the way to build a palace for us!? Undeniably, we would be very flattered. BUT, II Samuel 5:11-12 recorded "Then David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel and had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel." King David took it as a sign from God that he was made a king BY GOD for the sake of His people. Since he was a shepherd boy before, King David knew God wanted him to be the shepherd king for His people. What a perception, what an attitude! May we realise too that we, Christians are called to be princes and princesses of the King of kings and Lord of lords for the sake of His people, that we may render help, care and concern for His people with the power of His Holy Spirit endowed on all believers. The way of teaching is based on the Disputations which was started 600 years ago in the Divinity School where 2 Professors would present their cases to determine who would be more persuasive. Hence, every student In Oxford is expected weekly to prepare 2500 words of essay whereby the lecturer will debate with the students and challenge his...
