In Matthew 26:35, Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” You may call this self-confidence, self-esteem, self-motivation, positive mindset etc. But, we know what happened to St. Peter. He eventually denied Jesus for 3x. We should heed Jesus' advice in Matthew 26:38,"Stay here and keep watch with me.” And in Matthew 26:41, "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” God will not tempt us but He will test us. (Exodus 16:4). We must leave immediately, or he will move quickly to overtake us and bring ruin on us and put the city to the sword.” To me, as a parent, it is so sad to note that King David got to run for his life from his own son, Absalom.
