In Jeremiah 36:8, 26, we read of how Baruch son of Neriah was obedient and wrote everything Jeremiah dictated. But, the King who heard God's Word did not obey but instead commanded Jerahmeel, Seraiah and Shelemiah to arrest Baruch and Jeremiah. The Lord however hid them! Thank God for Baruch's obedience despite the danger confronting him. If Baruch did not write, we may not have the book of Jeremiah today. God is our Protector, Jehovah-Sabaoth. We just need to remain faithful and obedient and do exactly what He wants us to do even though the circumstances may be perilous or threatening! We must flee, or none of us will escape from Absalom. We must leave immediately, or he will move quickly to overtake us and bring ruin on us and put the city to the sword.” To me, as a parent, it is so sad to note that King David got to run for his life from his own son, Absalom. His own son schemed for 40 years (15:7) to topple his own father - could you believe that?
