Even king Artaxerxes and his counsellors FREELY offered silver and gold to the God of Israel and even freely allowed them to use the money from the King’s treasury to buy whatever they needed. Not only that, the priests, Levites, musicians, gatekeepers, temple servants or any worker in the house of God were exempted from tax! What a privilege to serve God then! Ezra was seen to possess wisdom from God and hence was put to be in charge of appointing judges and to teach others. These came about because of the good testimonies shone forth from both Nehemiah and Ezra at that time where both were committed to the work of God (Nehemiah committed to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem’s temple) and the Word of God (Ezra). Day 187 - Have Fear of God Read: Psalm 145; Proverbs 6:28-31; Revelation 6; 2 Samuel 15-16 2 Samuel 15 & 16 15:13 A messenger came and told David, “The hearts of the people of Israel are with Absalom.”14 Then David said to all his officials who were with him in Jerusalem, “Come! We must flee, or none of us will escape from Absalom. We must leave immediately, or he will move quickly to overtake us and bring ruin on us and put the city to the sword.” To me, as a parent, it is so sad to note that King David got to run for his life from his own son, Absalom. His own son schemed for 40 years (15:7) to topple his own father - could you believe that?
