Day 55: Psalm 35, Proverbs 23:31-35,  Romans 7, Genesis 21-22 Have Unwavering Faith And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together. Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. Genesis 22:8-10 NKJV http://bible.com/114/gen.22.8-10.NKJV I really admire Father Abraham's high level of faith. Imagine, he only had Isaac at the age of 100 and this was his only heir. Yet in response to God's testing him, he was willing to sacrifice Isaac on Mount Moriah. The only basis and firm foundation he held on to was his faith that God would provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering. Many a times, we are faced with this challenge too but learning from Father Abraham, we just got to BELIEVE and have
Day 54: Psalm 34, Proverbs 23:28-30, Romans 6, Genesis 19-20 God Is Good! All The Time! I sought the Lord , and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord  encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the Lord  is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!Psalms 34:4-8 NKJV Psalm 34 was written by King David when he was pursued by Saul and even needed to pretend madness before Achish, the king of Gath. King David needed to scratch on the doors of the gate and let his saliva fall down on his beard (I Samuel 21:13). But, the whole of Psalm 34 was all about the goodness of God and how God had been so kind and merciful to Him. What we can learn from this is that we do not need to dwell on the bitter part of the actual incident but to focus and address our minds to
Day 53: Psalm 33, Proverbs 23:25-27, Romans 5, Genesis 17-18 Easter: Glorious Hope And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.Romans 5:3-5 NKJV Today is Easter or also known as the Resurrection Day. It was far from the minds of the women who carried spices to anoint Jesus' dead body that resurrection would occur. After the death of Jesus on the Cross on Good Friday, it seems there were silence on Holy Saturday which I shall also call Silent Saturday. From the Apostle Creed, we know that Jesus descended to the dead and rose again on the third day. And that is the hope of all Christians. Just as said in today's verses, we know that hope does not disappoint us because the love of God has been poured out to us by the Holy Spirit. If there is no
Day 52: Psalm 32, Proverbs 23:22-24, Romans 4, Genesis 15-16 Good Friday: God's Faithfulness After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” But Abram said, “Lord God , what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” And he believed in the Lord , and He accounted it to him for righteousness. Genesis 15:1-2, 5-6 NKJV In this encounter between God and Abraham, we can see such cordial, sincere and intimate relationship. God Himself assured Abraham that God was his shield and his exceedingly great reward. Abraham was transparent and voiced out his doubts and disappointments of not having a child. God then brought him to look at the sky and promised him his descendant
Day 51: Psalm 31, Proverbs 23:19-21, Romans 3, Genesis 13-14 Make Up Our Mind To Make Godly Decisions And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere (before the Lord  destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah) like the garden of the Lord , like the land of Egypt as you go toward Zoar. Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other. Genesis 13:10-11 NKJV In today's verses, we know the consequences of Lot's choice. The places of Sodom and Gomorah which Lot chose were completely destroyed whereby these two cities are non existent now. If we read these verses carefully, the basis of Lot's decision was that the place was pleasing to his own eyes, he chose for himself and there were immediate benefits to him as the land was well watered everywhere. The question is what should be the basis of our decision-making process? My basis of decision is the acronym of PGE which stands fo
Day 50: Psalm 30, Proverbs 23:16-18, Romans 2, Genesis 11-12 Know that Jesus Loves You Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?  But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God.. Romans 2:4-5 NKJV We have heard the phrase “spare the rod, spoil the child” which is a modern-day saying that means if a parent refuses to discipline a disobedient child, that child may become a spoiled brat. The saying comes from Proverbs 13:24, “He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.” In today's verse, God has shown kindness to mankind with a hope that the goodness of God may lead us to repentance. But, we know that this has not always brought forth positive results. The hardness and the unrepentant heart of men will slowly but su
Day 47: Psalm 27, Proverbs 23:7-9, Acts 27,  Genesis 5-6 Encounter God For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’ Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me. However, we must run aground on a certain island.” Acts 27:23-26 NKJV We are familiar with the saying, "where there is no vision, the people perish." However, the actual wordings means where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom's instruction which is taken from Proverbs 29:18. Revelation here means revelation from God. How can we receive revelation from God if we do not spend time with Him? It boils down to setting aside time to meet and encounter Him to know Him better. Once the relationship with God is deepened, God will just reveal His thoughts
Day 44: Psalm 24, Proverbs 22: 28-29, Acts 24, Malachi 3-4 The Power Of Church But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves. You shall trample the wicked, For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet On the day that I do this, ” Says the Lord of hosts.Malachi 4:2-3 NKJV Yesterday, we saw how we can instill in ourselves the fear of God in us. Today, God further assures us of the benefits of fearing His Name, The Sun of Righteousness, such as healing will come our way, adequate provisions will be greatly supplied to us so much so it is described as "grow fat like stall-fed calves." In addition to that, those who fear God will trample the wicked which means when Christians fear God, the society will experience less wickedness, crime and unrest! Huh! We are truly the INFLUENCERS! But this also sends a serious and urgent signal to the church - how we must preach hol
Day 43: Psalm 23, Proverbs 22: 25-27, Acts 23, Malachi 1-2 Giving Our Best ““Cursed is the cheat who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but then sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord. For I am a great king,” says the Lord Almighty, “and my name is to be feared among the nations.” Malachi‬ ‭1:14‬ ‭NIV‬‬ If an employer knows that his or her staff do not give their best but only half hearted service to the firm, we can reckon that the employer will be mad. As seen in today's verse, the Lord Amighty found out that the people offered Him blemished animal when they had acceptable male in their flock. God reckoned the person as cheat and cursed such person. Wow! This is serious - not being and giving our best to our King of kings and the Lord of lords will bring forth His wrath. With this in mind, it will help to stir in us the fear of God. And giving our best is not difficult if we put in love as Mother Teresa said that it is not "how much we give but
Day 42: Psalm 22, Proverbs 22:22-24, Acts 22, Zechariah 13-14 Make Use Of Who We Are and What We Have For His Purpose And when they heard that he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, they kept all the more silent.....When the centurion heard that, he went and told the commander, saying, “Take care what you do, for this man is a Roman.” Then immediately those who were about to examine him withdrew from him; and the commander was also afraid after he found out that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him. Acts 22:2, 26-26, 29 NKJV There are times we hear people grumble as to why their parents send them to certain schools and to study certain languages they do not like. We also hear people wanted to migrate or give up their citizenship as they are disillusioned of their country. In Acts 22, we could see how Apostle Paul used the languages (Hebrew and Greek) he knew and his citizenship for the advancement of the Gospel. He knew this concept well as he had articulated it in the
Day 41: Psalm 21, Proverbs 22:19-21, Acts 21, Zechariah 11-12 What Are You Willing To Die For? Then Paul answered, “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” So when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, “The will of the Lord be done.” Acts 21:13-14 NKJV When Apostle Paul reached Tyre, he was told not to go up to Jerusalem (v3-4). But, historically, we know that Paul went up to Jerusalem and he was seized, arrested and beaten. Later, in verse 13, we read of how Apostle Paul was ready not only to be bound but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. One may wonder what made Apostle Paul had such conviction when we do hear some Christians complaint that they do not want to go to church because the church is too far or some other reasons. The answer can be found in Chapter 20:24 where Paul himself said he did not count his life dear to himself; he wante
