Day 240: Psalm 55, Proverbs 8:22-24,1 John 4, Job 34-35 Fervently Pursue God's Will No one ever seen the wind, but certainly all of us have enjoyed the cooling breeze and the refreshing wind before. Similarly when Apostle John mentioned in 1 John 4:12 that no one has seen God, but when we love one another, God will abide in us and people around us will experience His love through us. In fact, in Hebrews 12:14, we are exhorted to pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord. On the contrary, Jesus Himself warned us that we may face serious consequences if we stumble others as stipulated in Luke 17:1-2. “It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come!  It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones." Hence, let us be alert and fervently do the will of God - love one another, pursue peace and
Day 239: Psalm 54, Proverbs 8:19-21,1 John 3, Job 32-33 Whatever We Ask, We Receive If... I John 3:22-23 says "whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment".  What a Promise from God! Whatever we ask, we receive from Him. But, there are 3 conditions, namely believe in Jesus, love one another and do things that are pleasing in His sight. As Christians, we have believed in Jesus and we please Him when we have faith in Him (Hebrews 11:6). What is left now is to love one another. From Bersih 4.0's rally,  I read many touching stories of how an Indian man just gave a brand new umbrella to a chinese as he was about to leave the rally. There were people buying breakfast and serving free coffee to those who spent the night on the street. I saw young people picking up
Day 238: Psalm 53, Proverbs 8:16-18, 1 John 2, Job 30-31 We Need One Another When we write a letter to someone, surely we have a message for the recipient. In John 2:12-14, Apostle John clearly indicated his intention. He wrote for 3 groups of people, namely, for the little children, fathers and young men. For the little children, he reminded them to remember that their sins were forgiven, to the fathers and mothers, he reminded them that they knew God from the beginning and lastly, to the young men and women, Apostle John expected the young people to be overcomer and strong as the Word of God should abide in them. We need these 3 different group of people to build one another. There is a place where these 3 different age groups of people exist. Yes, it is the church. God instituted church for us to prepare ourselves for the new earth and new heaven. Hence, never ever miss church -  not just to attend, but be participants and to be involved as we have these wonderful spiritual fam
Day 237: Psalm 52, Proverbs 8:13-15, 1 John 1, Job 28, 29 Fear of God To Prevail Shall we pray that today those who love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking righteousness will realise that God can destroy them forever. Those who trust in the abundance of their riches and strengthen himself in their wickedness will realise God may pluck them out of their dwelling place and uproot them from the land of living (Psalm 52:1-8). Pray too that the fear of God will prevail in all Malaysians, especially the police and those in authority (Proverbs 8:13-15). Let them realise that to depart from evil is understanding and to have the fear of God is wisdom (Job 28:28). Through wisdom a house is built and by understanding it is established (Proverbs 24:3). And if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sins (1John 1:7). https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Day 236: Psalm 51, Proverbs 8:10-12, 2 Peter 3, Job 26, 27 Let Us Do A Quantum L.E.A.P. In 2 Peter 3:14, it is written, "Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.." What was Apostle Peter looking forward to? What did he mean by "these things"? Yes, the context of the whole Chapter is on the coming back of our beloved Dear Lord Jesus Christ. He will come back no longer as a Saviour anymore but as a Judge. Hence, St. Peter exhorted us to be diligent to be found in Him without spot and blameless. Let us L.E.A.P - Love God and His Word, Excel in all that we do, Anticipate His Coming and Prepare ourselves well. Let us L.E.A.P; Let us do a quantum L.E.A.P., especially when End Time is drawing near! Are we ready to face the Judge? https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Day 235:Psalm 50, Proverbs 8:7-9, 2 Peter 2, Job 24,25 Call On God It was said of a child singing, "God is still on the phone!" whereas the actual hymn that was sang that morning was "God is still on the throne". Nevertheless, it is still apt to say that God is always on the phone waiting for us to call Him. In Psalm 50:15-19, we are asked to call upon Him in the day of trouble; He will deliver us and we shall glorify Him. But to the wicked God says: “What right have you to declare My statutes, Or take My covenant in your mouth, Seeing you hate instruction And cast My words behind you? When you saw a thief, you consented with him, And have been a partaker with adulterers. You give your mouth to evil, And your tongue frames deceit." How important then, we use our mouth to call upon Him to pray and to intercede, learn to do right, seek justice, defend the oppressed and take up the cause of the fatherless and plead the case of the widow (Isaiah 1:17). https://
Day 234: Psalm 49, Proverbs 8:4-6, 2 Peter 1, Job 21 - 23 Be More Diligent To Confirm Our Call and Election Apostle Peter exhorted us to make every effort to confirm our calling and election. For if we do these things, we will never stumble and will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:10-11). In the Old Testament, we have another "giant of faith", Job who testified that his foot had held fast to His steps, he had kept His way and not turned aside. He had not departed from the commandment of His lips and had treasured the words of His mouth more than his necessary food (Job 23:10-12). With these great men as our examples, let us be even more diligent to make our call and election sure as we await with eagerness the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Maranatha! Our Lord Comes! It was said that William Wilberforce who pushed and debated for a committee to consider the anti-slave trade petitions
Day 233: Psalm 48, Proverbs 8:1-3, 1 Peter 5, Job 19-20 Pray For Leaders To Be True Shepherds It is good to pray Scriptures. Following today's reading, we can pray that our leaders of our beloved nation will know that eventually there will be Judgment. Fear of God will consume them. Heavens will reveal iniquities of men. The earth will rise up against the wicked, the increase of his house will depart and his goods will flow away in the day of His wrath and total darkness is reserved for his treasures and an unfanned fire will consume him (Job 19:29, 20:26-29). On the contrary, leaders who shepherd the people not for dishonest gain but willingly and eagerly, not lording over the people but being examples to the people will receive crowns of glory that do not fade away (1 Peter 5:1-4). May it be true to our nation. Amen. https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Day 232: Psalm 47, Proverbs 7:25-27, 1 Peter 4, Job 17-18 Totally Surrender to God Many a times pre-believers do not accept that it is "easy" to become Christians. They are unable to accept that merely repenting, believing only in Jesus Christ, accepting the Holy Spirit, one will have eternal life. They expect something more. However, we know that once we are believers, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, we arm ourselves with the same mind, for one who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, we no longer should live the rest of our time in the flesh ... but for the will of God. We live in such a way knowing that we will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead (1 Peter 4:1-5). Coming to Christ may seem "easy" but living continuously and victoriously as true Christians requires us to totally surrender to the will of God. But good news is He will never leave us nor forsake us. Praise be to God! https://twitter.com/Esther
Day 231: Psalm 46, Proverbs 7:22-24, 1 Peter 3, Job 15-16 Be Still and Know God For the past 3 days, we have learnt the need to KNOW God from the book of Job. In today's Psalm, the well known verse i.e. verse 10 exhorts us to BE STILL and know that he is God; He will be exalted among the nations and on earth. In the midst of our busy-ness and the noise from the world, it is good for us to go to our respective church and be still, humble ourselves and submit to our King of kings and Lord of lords and let Him speak today. For the eyes of the Lord  are on the righteous, And His ears are  open to their prayers; But the face of the Lord  is against those who do evil" (1 Peter 3:12). Let us take comfort that righteousness will eventually triumph over evil. The Lord of hosts is with us. He is our refuge as repeated in verses 7 & 11 of Psalm 46. We just need to be still, listen to His still small voice and once we hear it, obey it! https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Day 230: Psalm 45, Proverbs 7:19-21, 1 Peter 2, Job 13-14 Reason With God It is interesting to note that Job reasoned with God. In Job 13:3,18-19 he said, "..I would speak to the Almighty, And I desire to reason with God....See now, I have prepared my case, I know that I shall be vindicated. Who is he who will contend with me? If now I hold my tongue, I perish." When you know someone intimately, you are able to voice out your heart's contents. This was what Job did. He knew God. He even prepared his case to articulate with Him. Therefore, if you have sadness, sorrow, disappointment or issue that you causes you to doubt God, instead of looking elsewhere, please return to our Heavenly Father, prepare your case and reason with Him. In fact, He is ever eager, ready, able, willing and look forward to reason with you as He repeated Himself in Isaiah 1:18 & 41:21, “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord.. “Present your case,” says the Lord . “Bring forth y
Day 229: Psalm 44, Proverbs 7:16-18, 1 Peter 1, Job 11-12 To Know God, Spend Time With Him Yesterday, I wrote on how Job really knew God on a very intimate and personal level and hence, he was able to endure and persevere to trust God despite the harsh conditions he went through. Today, upon reading Job 12:7-24, we gather that Job had a deep relationship with God that he declared even animals created by God could taught him a lesson. He said, "..now ask the beasts, and they will teach you; And the birds of the air, and they will tell you; Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you; And the fish of the sea will explain to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this". 2ndly, Job acknowledged that in God's hand was the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind". 3rdly, Job knew God was the  wisdom and strength, counsel and understanding. strength and prudence. He could make nations great and destroy them. He enlar
Day 228: Psalm 43, Proverbs 7:13-15, James 5, Job 9-10 Know God, Has Eternal Life As what I have written about Job yesterday, the book of James also recorded the perseverance of Job in Chapter 5 verse 11. Upon reading the book of Job itself  in Chapter 9, we get a glimpse of how Job could persevere under such harsh conditions. He knew God, had a true and right perspective of Him and he understood the character of God. Job declared in verses 4-12, "God  is wise in heart and mighty in strength. Who has hardened himself against Him and prospered? He removes the mountains, and they do not know When He overturns them in His anger; He shakes the earth out of its place, And its pillars tremble; He commands the sun, and it does not rise; He seals off the stars; He alone spreads out the heavens, And treads on the waves of the sea; He made the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, And the chambers of the south; He does great things past finding out, Yes, wonders without number. If He takes aw
Day 227:Psalm 42, Proverbs 7:10-12, James 4, Job 7-8 Be Frank With God We are familiar with the incident that happened to Job. How his children were all perished and his assets all vanished over just one night. Subsequently, he was also been inflicted with diseases. BUT, what was his response? Did he show his fist to God and curse God? In fact, his wife asked him to do so. We read in Chapter 7:11, it is recorded as, “Therefore I will not restrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul." Here, we see that Job did not curse but was just complaining to God in bitterness and in the anguish of his spirit. Therefore, in times of trouble and turmoil, be FRANK with God - pour your hearts out to HIM. Submit to God... Draw near to God and He will draw near to you...Lament and mourn and weep! ..Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. (James 4:7-10) https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Day 226: Psalm 41, Proverbs 7:7-9, James 3, Job 5-6 Be An Overcomer I am sure as parents, we will be very pleased if our children are able to overcome and triumph over challenges facing them. This is exactly why it is recorded in Psalm 41:11-13, that God was well pleased with the Psalmist because his enemy did not triumph over him. Further, the Psalmist said that  God upheld him in his integrity and set him before God's  face forever. We are bound to face challenges and difficulties in life, but if we are able to overcome all those, it certainly makes our Heavenly Father proud of us. In fact, there are many rewards for those who overcome as stipulated in the book of Revelation. Therefore, let us be overcomers and rise up above all circumstances and challenges. https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Day 225: Psalm 40, Proverbs 7:4-6, James 2, Job 3-4 Go To Jesus For Wisdom As reported in Malay Mail in March 2014, the divorce rate in Malaysia is one divorce in every ten minutes. This is alarmingly high! There are many factors that cause a marriage to break down. In today's reading of Proverbs 7:4-5, wisdom and understanding may keep one from the immoral woman and seductress who flatters with her words. Wisdom isn’t simply intelligence or knowledge. It is to put to practice what we know and the ability to use these to think and act in such a way that the choices we make are beneficial and right. Let us ALWAYS go back to Jesus as He is the Source of all wisdom as said in Luke 21:15  that “I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict”. https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Day 224: Psalm 39, Proverbs 7:1-3, James 1, Job 1-2 Be Blessed By The Word of God Today, as we go to church to listen to sermon,  let us be attentive to God's Word, the Word of Truth. God brought us forth by the Word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted Word, which is able to save our souls. But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving ourselves. We must be ones who look into the perfect law of liberty (Word of God) and continue in  it, and  not be forgetful hearers but be doers. Then, we will be blessed in what we do (James 1:18,21,22,25). https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Day 223: Psalm 38, Proverbs 6:34-36, Hebrews 13, Esther 9-10 Prepare Our Sacrifices As Christians, we know that Jesus died on the Cross as a Sacrifice for us to pay for the penalty of our sins and transgressions. However, have we ever thought of what are the sacrifices that are required from us by God? In Hebrews 13:14-16, we are exhorted to continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. This means that the least we do is to go to church to praise and worship God weekly while continually doing good and to share with others. Therefore, do not say that we do not need to go to church and just by believing in Jesus is enough. God requires us to give sacrifices of praise. Today, let us prepare our sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving to offer to our King of kings and Lord of lords tomorrow. https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Day 222: Psalm 37, Proverbs 6:31-33, Hebrews 12, Esther 7-8 Guard Our Inheritance In my 20 over years' experiences, when I draft wills for my clients, NONE will not let their own children to inherit their properties. Hence, if we can inherit our earthly parents' assets, how much more inheritance that we will get when we are the children of God (John 1:12).  In Psalm 37, it lists 7 categories of people who will inherit the earth forever, namely, those who wait on the Lord, delight themselves in the abundance of peace, keep His way, show mercy and give, the meek, the upright and the righteous. In Hebrews 12:16-17, a warning was also given not to be immoral or godless, like Esau who for short term gain, traded away God's lifelong birth right which even later he regretted that impulsive act and wanted back his inheritance, it was too late, tears or no tears. Remember, at all costs, jealously guard our inheritance in our Lord of lords and King of kings. We are princes and prin
Day 221: Psalm 36, Proverbs 6:28-30, Hebrews 11, Esther 5-6 Our God Is Faithful! As I read Psalm 36, it encourages me for the reminder that our God is faithful! His faithfulness reaches to the clouds. His righteousness is like the great mountains and His judgments are a great deep. Let us pray, "Dear Lord , we earnestly plead with and petition to You that You preserve Malaysia. Oh, that You continue Your lovingkindness to us and Your righteousness to the whole nation. Let not the foot of pride come against us and let not the hand of the wicked drive the nation away. But the workers of iniquity will fall and that they will be cast down and are not able to rise. In Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen". https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Day 220: Psalm 35, Proverbs 6:25-27, Hebrews 10, Esther 3-4 New Covenant New Requirement We are no longer under Mosaic covenant. God has made a new covenant with us as stated in Hebrews 10:16-18, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord : I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” then  He  adds,  “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” It was reiterated before in Hebrews 8:8-10,  “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord , when I will make a new covenant..— not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord." This new covenant has higher requirement as His laws shall be in our hearts and minds. How to go about it? Hence, the need to delight ourselves in the law of the Lord and in His law we must meditate day a
Day 218: Psalm 33, Proverbs 6:19-21, Hebrews 8, Nehemiah 13 Make Right and Initiate Reform In Nehemiah 13:7-9, we read of how when Nehemiah came back to Jerusalem and discovered the evil that Eliashib had done, allied with Tobiah, in preparing a room for him in the courts of the house of God, it grieved him bitterly; therefore he threw all the household goods of Tobiah out of the room. Then he commanded them to cleanse the rooms; and he brought back into them the articles of the house of God, with the grain offering and the frankincense. When we see evils around us, do we grieve bitterly like Nehemiah? Knowing that the rooms in the Temple were to store offerings, he threw away Tobiah's furniture. He MADE RIGHT what had been done wrong. He cleansed and initiated REFORMS. Our prayers shall be along these lines as we entered into the 4th Day of NECF National Fast & Prayer. https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Day 217: Psalm 32, Proverbs 6:16-18, Hebrews 7, Nehemiah 11, 12 It Starts With Us! Today is the 3rd day of NECF National Fast & Prayer. In Psalm 32:6-11, the Psalmist urged everyone who is godly shall pray to Him in a time when He may be found; He will instruct us and teach us in the way we should go. He will guide us with His eyes and as we trust in the Lord, mercy shall surround us. What a privilege we have that we can come to the throne of grace! Yes, we must pray when He may be found! Remember, Jesus is our High Priest who  is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens; who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for Jesus did once for all when He offered up Himself. He is  able to save to the uttermost those who COME TO GOD through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for us (Hebrews 7:25-27). Therefore, it STARTS WITH YOU! Draw near to Go
Day 216: Psalm 31, Proverbs 6:13-15, Hebrews 6, Nehemiah 9, 10 With Our ONE Life, We Can Make A Difference Yesterday, my husband and I attended the wake service of Philip Mok Sew Kwong, the founder of Rumah Victory, which presently comprise 12 homes dedicated to assist drug addicts, orphans, delinquents and the elderly. There were so many people that we needed to park our car very far away. Philip Mok is no stranger to us as his life from a gang leader and drug addict to a leader in the drug rehabilitation ministry, is a testament to the Gospel’s life-changing power. With his ONE life, he had blessed thousands of people. Let us not forget to continue to do good works and help His people for God is not unjust to forget our work and labor of love which we have shown toward His name, as we have helped His people and continue to help them (Hebrews 6:10). [P/s:Wake Service will still be held tonight and tomorrow at 8pm in Rumah Victory Elderly Home in Puchong. Refer www.rumahvictory.or
Make A Decision For Christ Today In Nehemiah 7, after the Israelites had returned from exile, God put into the heart of Nehemiah to gather the nobles, the rulers, and the people, that they might be registered by genealogy and he found a register of the genealogy of those who had come up in the first return. When their names could not found; they were excluded from the priesthood as defiled. And the governor said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things. There is a more important book now - the Book of Life. In Revelation 20:15 says  anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. Make a decision for Christ today. “He Himself bore our sins” in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by His wounds we have been healed.” “We were like sheep going astray,” make a decision to return to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls! (1 Peter 2:24-25). https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Decide to Take Effort People tend to take laziness lightly. We do hear people say, "I have nothing much this weekend...I will just be lazing around" or "I will just stay at home as I am lazy to go out". In Hebrews 4:11-16, we are admonished to be DILIGENT to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us HOLD FAST our confession. Let us therefore COME BOLDLY to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. We need to decide to take effort to do something! We cannot just be lazing around! In fact, in a parable in Matthew 25, Jesus put away a wicked and lazy servant out into the darkness. Today, decide to take effort to read the Bible, pray and bless someone! https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Let Justice and Truth Prevailed We are asked to pray for our beloved nation. At times, we may not know how and what to pray. It is good to take a glimpse of what Nehemiah prayed in Nehemiah 4:4-5, "Hear, O our God, for we are despised; turn their reproach on their own heads, and give them as plunder to a land of captivity! Do not cover their iniquity, and do not let their sin be blotted out from before You; for they have provoked You to anger before the builders." Applying this, let us pray that God will not cover the guilt, sins and iniquities of our leaders and do not let their sins be blotted out and turn their reproach on their own heads. Let the sins be exposed and let justice and truth prevailed. Amen! https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Jesus Christ Our Brother What a privilege! The King of kings and the Lord of lords is our Brother. In Hebrews 2:11-13, we read of how Jesus is not ashamed to call us brothers and sisters and we are the children God has given Him. Further, in  verse 16 says that God has chosen to help not the angels but Abraham's descendants. We who call on the Name of Jesus have been grafted into the "olive tree" and hence now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root (Romans 11:17, 24). With these privileges, let us continue to grow in Him and glow for Him in this dark world. Let us so shine forth for Him that others may see Christ in us and praise God, our Heavenly Father (Matthew 5:16). https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Pray With Emotions! Biochemist William Frey has spent 15 years as head of a research team studying tears. The team found that, EMOTIONAL tears are a response which only humans have, for only people can weep. All animals that live in air produce tears to lubricate their eyes. But only people possess the marvellous system that causes crying. Weeping, they concluded, is an excretory process which removes toxic substances and the simple act of crying also reduces the body’s manganese level. Upon reading the last chapter of Ezra, we learnt that while praying, he was confessing, weeping and bowing down before the house of God. The people were also weeping very bitterly. As God leads us to pray and fast, know that our Lord loves righteousness and hates lawlessness (Hebrews 1:9). These are STRONG EMOTIONS! Let us pray with the SAME EMOTIONS as our Lord! If this causes us to weep, let us weep before our Lord for our beloved nation. https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
Fast and Pray Yesterday, we read from Ezra and noted how we must pray. Further reading into Chapter 8:21-31 shows that he proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that they might humble themselves before God, to seek from Him the right way for  them and their little ones and all their possessions. So they fasted and entreated God for this, and He answered their prayers. Then they departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem and the hand of our God was upon them and He delivered them from the hand of the enemy and from ambush along the road. In times like these, may I suggest that we FAST AND PRAY solely for our beloved nation for any duration of days as our Lord leads us? And the money saved from the meal be donated to Impian Sabah & Impian Sarawak. https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
