Day 40: Psalm 20, Proverbs 22:16-18, Acts 20, Zechariah 9-10 Sin Will Keep You From The Book, Or The Book Will Keep You From Sin - DL Moody “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. Acts 20:32 NKJV On Day 39, we read of how Joshua and Caleb's descendants were able to inherit the Promised Land. Today, in Acts 20:32, Apostle Paul said God and His Word is able to build us up and give us an inheritance among those who have been set apart. It means that God's Word is able to build us up and give us inheritance. Hence, God's Word must be treasured at all times. In fact, the verse that convince me to write the Daily Nuggets series is Mark 13:31 which says "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away." So, I know I am investing in something that is eternal. Further, John 1:1 says, "In the beginning was the Word,
Day 39: Psalm 19, Proverbs 22:13-15, Acts 19, Zechariah 7-8 Take Heed Of God's Instructions “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Execute true justice, Show mercy and compassion Everyone to his brother. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, The alien or the poor. Let none of you plan evil in his heart against his brother.’....“But they refused to heed, shrugged their shoulders, and stopped their ears so that they could not hear.... “But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they had not known. Thus the land became desolate after them, so that no one passed through or returned; for they made the pleasant land desolate.”Zechariah 7:9-10, 11, 14 NKJV Chapters 7 and 8 of Zechariah deal with the hearts of the people toward their God.  Pursuant to the eight visions in Chapters 1-6, these two chapters' objective is to persuade the nation to restore its relationship with the Lord in a practical application, culminating with Lord Himself dwelling in the city
Day 38: Psalm 18, Proverbs 22:10-12, Acts 18, Zechariah 5-6 His Promises Never Fail For by You I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall. It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer and sets me on my high places. He teaches my hands to make war so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze...Your right hand has held me up and Your gentleness has made me great. You enlarged my path under me... Psalms 18:29-30,32-36,44 NKJV More than twenty over years ago, when I was about to take my CLP examination, I was reading Proverbs 18 as well. The verse that says, "I can leap over a wall" was just so assuring from God that I knew I would pass my CLP. God is just so good. His timing is always perfect. His words of encouragement and His promises will never fail. Indeed, I can echo what Joshua said in Joshua 23:14, “Behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth. And you know in all your hearts and in all your
Day 36: Psalm 16, Proverbs 22:4-6, Acts 16, Zechariah 1-2 Return To God Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Return to Me,” says the Lord of hosts, “and I will return to you,” says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 1:3 NKJV The book of Zechariah is not only historical and prophetical but also apocalyptic in genre. It was written after the return from exile in Babylon. The objective was to encourage those who had recently returned from the exile. Their faith in God was weak and they were not motivated to build the temple. Zechariah recorded his visions, encouraged the people to reinstate the priesthood, learn and conform to the religious laws that were forgotten during the 70-year exile. The Lord of hosts promised through Zechariah that if the people were to return to Him, He will return to them (1:3). Similarly, we may sometimes, go into exile of our own and may have forgotten our Lord. Also, we may be in exile while we are in a religious setting. How? It occurs when
Day 37: Psalm 17, Proverbs 22:7-8, Acts 17, Zechariah 3-4 Engage With People ..for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising. Acts 17:28-29 NKJV In reading Acts 17, we will not miss the long discourse that Apostle Paul gave to the philosophers at Athens. 1st, he related with the philosophers by identifying something that Apsotle Paul could start a conversation in spiritual things. He identified that the philosophers prayed to an unknown God and what is unknown to them, Paul enlightened them. 2ndly, Paul referred to their own poets' saying. 3rdly, he persuaded them to return to the truth by reasoning with them that if they were the offspring of God, they ought not pray to gold, silver or stone. Once these are effectively communicated to
Day 35: Psalm 15, Proverbs 22:1-3, Acts 15, Haggai 1-2 The Greatest Couple Worships Jesus, Not Each Other He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart; He who  does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; In whose eyes a vile person is despised, But he honors those who fear the Lord ; He who  swears to his own hurt and does not change; He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. Psalms 15:2-5 NKJV Many of us will refer Proverbs 31 as guidelines for a Godly wife. How about Godly husband? Which passage to refer? In today's Psalm, it does enumerate some good qualities of a Godly husband. One may choose appearance and education level as the criterias for a spouse but checking Psalm 15 is a good start. Essentially, a man who is upright and speaks the truth even if it hurts as well as a man of integrity who does not change his p
Day 34: Psalm 14, Proverbs 21:31-33, Acts 14, Zephaniah 1-3 Repent For The Day Of The Lord Is Near! Be silent before the Sovereign Lord , for the day of the Lord is near. The Lord has prepared a sacrifice; He has consecrated those He has invited. Zephaniah 1:7 NIV As most Old Testament books, Zephaniah is a narrative history and a prophetic book. It was written around 630 B.C. just prior to the fall of Judah. The people were complacent, wicked and there were idolatrous priests who turned their back from following the Lord, not seeking nor inquire of the Lord (1:4-6). Zephaniah gave stern warning of the day of the Lord “Near is the great day of the Lord...a day of wrath is that day” (1:14-15). He also brought a message of hope, when the nation would be restored as well as predicted the desolation of Nineveh the capital city of Assyria in 612 B.C. “And He will stretch out His hand against the north And destroy Assyria, And He will make Nineveh a desolation, Parched like the wildern
Day 33: Psalm 13, Proverbs 21:28-30, Acts 13, Habukkuk 1-3 Privileged To Be Believers For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.. His glory covered the heavens and the earth was full of His praise. His brightness was like the light; He had rays flashing from His hand.. Habakkuk 2:14, 3:3-4 NKJV Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed. Acts 13:48 NKJV In Habakkuk, we read of God's glory filling and covering the earth and the glory of God is His brightness and rays. This means everyone can see His glory through His creation. In Acts, we read that those who had been appointed to eternal life believed. Reading both of these accounts, everyone knows the glory of God but to believe is truly a privilege as those who believe have been appointed to eternal life! Hence, believers of Jesus Christ are the privileged ones! W
Day 32: Psalm 12, Proverbs 21:25-27, Acts 12, Nahum 3 Know And Act And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a girl named Rhoda came to answer. When she recognized Peter’s voice, because of her gladness she did not open the gate, but ran in and announced that Peter stood before the gate. Acts 12:13-14 NKJV Acts 12 narrated the incident where Peter was arrested and was imprisoned. But the angels came to his rescue and brought him out of prison whereby they went past 2 security guards and one iron gate which opened by itself. Many gathered to pray for Peter's release in John Mark's house. But when Peter was knocking at his house's door, Rhoda recognized his voice but failed to open the gate. At times, we are like that too! The answers are right at our doors. Do we just recognize and know the answers BUT fail to open the door and act upon the answers which our Lord has already given us? Knowing and acting are 2 different things altogether! God can do all things but
Day 31: Psalm 11, Proverbs 21:22-24,  Acts 11, Nahum 1-2 Consider Jesus Now The Lord  is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him. Nahum 1:7 NKJV On Day 30, I ended by urging pre-believers to trust God. Today, we have the assurance that God knows those who trust in Him. This is truly good news. We have the King of kings and the Lord of lords KNOWING us! Our Lord is good and He is a stronghold in the days of trouble.  With such a good God, why people still  do not want to trust in Jesus? I can think of 3 possible reasons: (1) People are not ready to meet a holy God. (2) People take God for granted by thinking they still have the time to repent at the later part of their lives. (3) People are just don't bother what will happen after death. For the aforesaid questions, I humbly propose the replies respectively: (1) We must realise that we cannot escape the Judgment of God and hence it is better to prepare ourselves now and be safe rather tha
Day 30: Psalm 10, Proverbs 21:19-21,Acts 10, Micah 7 The Best Gift Of All Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in  mercy. He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea. Micah 7:18-19 NKJV When we have wronged someone, the best gift we want is to receive the pardon from the person whom we have wronged. I have said in Day 26 before that all people have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Today's  verses gave us the greatest assurance that our sins are all casted into the depths of the sea. In fact, God puts a sign that says, "No more fishing!" This is true as we ourselves are the ones who do not forgive ourselves and go back and "fish" for past sins and fail to live the victorious lives that God intends for us to live! Yes, we are
Day 29: Psalm 9, Proverbs 21:16-18, Acts 9, Micah 5-6 Encourage, Embrace & Empower And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and did not believe that he was a disciple. But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. And he declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. Acts 9:26-27 NKJV Barnabas means Son of Encouragement. He had truly lived up to his name. When people were still afraid of Saul and did not believe in him, Barnabas took him, stood by him, explained and justified for him to the apostles. We know now that Saul or more well known as Apostle Paul is one of the greatest servant of God whom God had used mightily. I wonder if Barnabas had not ENCOURAGED him and showed loving tender care and most of all, stood by him, do we have Apostle Paul today? Surely, God in His Sovereignty will do something e
Day 27: Psalm 7, Proverbs 21:10-12, Acts 7, Micah 1-2 Recall and Have Hope "But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,” ‭‭Acts‬ ‭7:55‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ All of us learn history in school. Some may love it and some may loathe it. It all depends on whether you know the reason for studying the history or not. We can see Stephen in the book of Acts knew his history very well as he recited the history from Abraham till Solomon. Because of this, he knew how God had been faithful in the past and hence, he could gaze into Heaven and saw the glory of God (v55). And because of this, he could withstand the jeers and persecutions from the public. He could even, like Jesus prayed that God would forgive them for they knew not what they were doing. How important then that we too need to have our own journal to jot down the faithfulness of God in our lives so that we constantly recall His goodness, greatness and gra
Day 28: Psalm 8, Proverbs 21:13-15, Acts 8, Micah 3-4 Preach Christ! O Lord , our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. Psalms 8:1, 3-5 NKJV From today's Psalm, we can see that just the moon and the stars point to A Creator God! Hence, all people have no excuse! Heaven and earth point to the work of God's fingers. Since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse (Romans 1:20). Henceforth, take the opportunity during this Chinese New Year to preach Christ, just like Philip in Acts 8:4-6, when h
REPENT and TURN Day 26: Psalm 6, Proverbs 21:7-9, Acts 6, Jonah 3-4 So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. Then word came to the king of Nineveh; and he arose from his throne and laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth and sat in ashes. Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it. Jonah 3:5-6, 10 NKJV As early as the church in the book of Acts, accusations had occured as depicted in Acts 6:10-13 whereby Stephen was seized and was brought to the council. Even false witnesses were set up. People are truly sinful and the Bible is right to say that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 6:23). Good news is that if people REPENT AND TURN away from their evil ways, God will relent and forgive all their iniquities as seen in Jonah 3:5-6, 10. It hinges then on
Day 25: Psalm 5, Proverbs 21:4-6, Acts 5, Jonah 1-2 How Much Jesus Loves Us? But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name be joyful in You. For You, O Lord , will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield. Psalms 5:11-12 NKJV  & The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him.Proverbs 20:7 NKJV Our relationship with our dear Lord Jesus is a love relationship. He is the Groom and we, the Church is the Bride. Jesus' love for us is so great, intimate and so amazing that He was willing to lay down HIs life for us. 1 John 3:16 says "this is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us." He taught us what real and true love is. He wants His lovers to be joyful as seen in today's verse in Psalm 5:11-12. By virtue of His death, we are made righteous and because we are now made righteous, He we
Day 24: Psalm 4, Proverbs 21:1-3, Acts 4, Obadiah Jesus Is The Only Way Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”  When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus...As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:12-13, 20 NIV When you claim something as the only thing or someone is the only one or a way as the only way, the possible responses you may get are you will be labelled as intolerable or that you are out of mind. If Apostle Peter who was with Jesus could not help but to speak this truth as what he heard and seen, we too, must speak up this truth and this fact without any compromise. We should not even apologise for this fact but we must speak this truth in love as advocated by Apostle Paul in Ephesians 4:15. Hence, Christians, rise up and no
Day 23: Psalm 3, Proverbs 20:28-30, Acts 3, Amos 9 By Faith & In Jesus' Name By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see. Acts 3:16 NIV By today's verse, we can clearly learn that we need to have faith in Jesus and in His Name, we can have healing. Of course, we need to see doctor as God works through doctors as well. The lesson for us to learn is that we need to TRULY believe and be convinced that Jesus is our Healer and we need to pray in Jesus' Name. There is no record in the Gospels that Jesus turned away anyone who went to HIm for healing. Neither is there record of any disease which was too difficult for Him to heal. The death was raised to life by Jesus. Is there any disease today that is too complicated for Him? Just remember 3 points: Jesus still heals today, healing comes from Jesus and the purpose of divine healing
Day 22: Psalm 2, Proverbs 20:25-27, Acts 2, Amos 7-8 God Will Bless Those Who Fear Him "..they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles." Acts 4:42-43 NKJV Yesterday, we saw how as we have the fear of God, we will humble ourselves to seek God to examine our hearts so that our worship to our Beloved Father, Son and Holy Spirit will be genuinely from our hearts, lest unacceptable by Him. Today, we learnt from the early Christians how when they continued steadfastly in the teaching of the Apostles, faithfully devoted themselves to fellowship, prayers and breaking of bread, the fear of the Lord would come upon them and they experienced signs and wonders. Yes, there are many blessings for those who fear the Lord. In Luke 1:50, it says, "His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation" and Proverbs
Day 20:Psalm 150, Proverbs 20: 19-21, John 21, Amos 3-4 Prepare Ourselves To Meet God ““I also withheld rain from you, When there were still three months to the harvest. I made it rain on one city, I withheld rain from another city. One part was rained upon, And where it did not rain the part withered.” ‭‭Amos‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ Lately, we heard of drastic change of climate in certain countries. Countries that do not have snow before suddenly experience snow. We know Who is in control of the nature. Our Creator God Who forms the mountain and creates the wind (Amos 4:13). Today, as we read Amos, God withheld rain in one city but caused another part of the city to have rain. The Lord God was waiting for the people to return to Him. In fact, He was preparing His people to meet Him (v12). How about now? Are we taking heed of the drastic change of climate as an indication from our Lord God that we need to prepare ourselves to meet Him? How prepared are we? Have we thought seriously about G
