Day 118: Do Everything With Our Utmost Best

Read: Psalm 96; Proverbs 30:10-12; Ephesians 6; Numbers 25-26

Numbers 25:11 & 13
““Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, has turned my anger away from the Israelites. Since he was as zealous for my honor among them as I am, I did not put an end to them in my zeal.
He and his descendants will have a covenant of a lasting priesthood, because he was zealous for the honor of his God and made atonement for the Israelites.””

Dictionary.com explains zealous as fervent, diligent, devout and passionate. All these attributes are God-honouring and very much advocated in the Bible. For instance, Apostle Paul said this in 1 Corinthians 26:13-14, "“Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you’ve got, be resolute, and love without stopping.” Henceforth, let us put in our heart, soul and mind in whatever our hands find to do and do it with our utmost ability as it not only pleases our Maker but may turn God's anger away if our community has sinned against Him. My experience in Japan proves this point. The community of Japan basically is an idol-worship community but the results of their work is one of dedication and of high quality and hence, in my opinion, God has withheld punishment. Day 69: Psalm 49, Proverbs 25:4-6, 1 Corinthians 5, Genesis 49-50 Do Our Utmost For His Highest Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? But as for you, you meant evil against me; but  God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it  is this day, to save many people alive. Genesis 50:19‭-‬21 (http://bible.com/114/gen.50.19-21.NKJV) When we hear stories of how the evil triumphs over the good, we are angry. If it happens in real life to us, we may question God. We may go around feeling very miserable, angry and unproductive. However, Joseph in the Old Testament did not have such feelings but instead he went about doing his best in whatever tasks given to him, knowing that God is in charge and in control. Day 187 - Have Fear of God Read: Psalm 145; Proverbs 6:28-31; Revelation 6; 2 Samuel 15-16 2 Samuel 15 & 16 15:13 A messenger came and told David, “The hearts of the people of Israel are with Absalom.”14 Then David said to all his officials who were with him in Jerusalem, “Come! We must flee, or none of us will escape from Absalom. We must leave immediately, or he will move quickly to overtake us and bring ruin on us and put the city to the sword.” To me, as a parent, it is so sad to note that King David got to run for his life from his own son, Absalom. His own son schemed for 40 years (15:7) to topple his own father - could you believe that? This is our Bible - it will not hide - all the successes and failures of God's people are truthfully reported. Why did King David suffer this?
