Day 61: Psalm 41,Proverbs 24:15-17, Romans 13, Genesis 33-34
Owe No One
Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Romans 13:8, 10-11, 14 NKJV (http://bible.com/114/rom.13.8-14.NKJV)
I have seen some people enjoy bargaining until it is so terribly cheap for the vendor. Then, they will go round "boasting" about the fact that they have a good buy. However, beware! Are we doing the right thing when we "squeeze" someone for a discount? Or is it right when we delay in paying someone? In today's passage, God exhorts us to owe no one except the debt to love one another. Love does no harm to our neighbours but to bless them. In the book of Ruth, Boaz specifically instructed his servants to purposefully leave some harvest for others to glean (Ruth 2:15-22). We must let the vendors earn their living. In fact, like Boaz, we must intentionally give businesses to those who are needy and let them earn! The Apostle Paul also exhorted us in Galatians 6:10 that when we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Our salvation is nearer as the days go by. Get our accounts right before our dear Lord Jesus asks us for our accounts! https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC (please click to view a visual)
