Day 58: Psalm 38,  Proverbs 24:7-9,  Romans 10, Genesis 27-28

Be Christ-like
Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother and had gone to Padan Aram. Also Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan did not please his father Isaac. So Esau went to Ishmael and took Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife in addition to the wives he had. Genesis 28:7-9 NKJV

I am sure all parents will love it when their children obey them. From the above verses, we gather that Jacob obeyed and went to Padan Aram. On the other hand, Esau who knew that his parents were not pleased with the daughters of Canaan still went to look for one and went ahead and married her, in absolute disobedience to his parents. We knew from history that Esau's descendants were Herod's family and how they wanted to kill baby Jesus. How important then that we must resist the temptation of any negative disposition to God or anyone who upholds anything that lifts up the banner of righteousness or holiness. Day 69: Psalm 49, Proverbs 25:4-6, 1 Corinthians 5, Genesis 49-50 Do Our Utmost For His Highest Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? But as for you, you meant evil against me; but  God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it  is this day, to save many people alive. Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them. Genesis 50:19‭-‬21 (http://bible.com/114/gen.50.19-21.NKJV) When we hear stories of how the evil triumphs over the good, we are angry. If it happens in real life to us, we may question God. We may go around feeling very miserable, angry and unproductive. However, Joseph in the Old Testament did not have such feelings but instead he went about doing his best in whatever tasks given to him, knowing that God is in charge and in control. We must flee, or none of us will escape from Absalom. We must leave immediately, or he will move quickly to overtake us and bring ruin on us and put the city to the sword.” To me, as a parent, it is so sad to note that King David got to run for his life from his own son, Absalom. His own son schemed for 40 years (15:7) to topple his own father - could you believe that?
