REPENT and TURN
Day 26: Psalm 6, Proverbs 21:7-9, Acts 6, Jonah 3-4
So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. Then word came to the king of Nineveh; and he arose from his throne and laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth and sat in ashes. Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.
Jonah 3:5-6, 10 NKJV
As early as the church in the book of Acts, accusations had occured as depicted in Acts 6:10-13 whereby Stephen was seized and was brought to the council. Even false witnesses were set up. People are truly sinful and the Bible is right to say that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 6:23). Good news is that if people REPENT AND TURN away from their evil ways, God will relent and forgive all their iniquities as seen in Jonah 3:5-6, 10. It hinges then on whether people truly repent and whether the repentance bears fruit. God saw their works that showed they turned from their evil ways (v10). O Lord, please have mercy on our nation just as you had on Nineveh during Jonah's time. Help our nation to call upon You in true repentance and showing forth works that evidencing repentance. Amen! https://twitter.com (please click to view a visual)
