Day 45: The Characteristic of Our Servant King
But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew from there. And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all. Yet He warned them not to make Him known, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased! I will put My Spirit upon Him, And He will declare justice to the Gentiles. He will not quarrel nor cry out, Nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets. A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench, Till He sends forth justice to victory; And in His name Gentiles will trust.”
Matthew 12:15-21 NKJV

What a blessed assurance we have as our God is our Servant King. 1st, He came to bring justice to men. We can be rest assured that all injustices on earth will receive their dues in God's timing. 2ndly, He will not quarrel nor cry out. It means that Jesus will not argue to have His ways. In quietness and in confidence shall be our strength (Isaiah 30:15). 3rdly, He will not break the crushed reed nor quench the smoking wick. This shows that Jesus will not treat the weak ones with contempt. On the contrary, He is our great Encourager. No matter how shaky or weak you may feel or you may feel the light of your life is but a flicker and not a flame, Jesus will come with understanding to nurse it back to a clearer and stronger light. 4thly, Jesus will bring hope to all as in His Name, all will trust.
