Day 163 - Woman of Worth
Read: Psalm 121; Proverbs 4:4-6; James 3; Ruth 2-3
Ruth 3:11
And now, my daughter, don't be afraid. I will do for you all you ask. All the people of my town know that you are a woman of noble character.
Most of us know the story of Ruth. It started when her father-in-law, Elimelech and her own husband past away. However, she pledged her devotion to her mother in law, Naomi, to become part of Naomi's life and returned with her to Bethlehem whereupon she started to glean from a barley field. Boaz, a relative of Elimelech noticed her and uttered the above verse 11. Other versions of verse 11 illustrate Ruth as a virtuous woman or a woman of worth. In other words, a woman having or showing high moral standards. In Proverbs 12:4, it is said that excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who shames him is like rottenness in his bones. In this era where we talk about women's power, we need to bear in mind that a woman who is gentle, virtuous, noble and respectful are evergreen attributes which must always be observed at all times so that we can be like Ruth that ALL the people of the town knew of her as a woman of worth! http://twitter.com/EstherOngHC #devotion #womanhood #virtue #character
