Day 162 - Natural Outcome of Faith Is Work
Read: Psalm 120; Proverbs 4:1-3; James 2; Judges 21-22
James 2
18...Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble!
20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?
Reading the above passage may trigger some controversies that we need to work out our faith. But, that is not what the passage means. In fact, it reiterates the importance of having faith for without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). The above passage further elaborates that when we have faith, it automatically or naturally births forth actions. The example given was Abraham - he had such great faith to believe God would provide an alternative way for him that he acted to just obey God to offer Isaac, his only son on the alter. Do we trust God enough to obey? Do we have that level of faith? If not, let us pray like the father in Mark 9:24, "Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!". https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC #devotion #faith #pleaseGod #trustGod #obedience
