Day 128 - Importance of Rules
Read: Psalm 106; Proverbs 31:10-12; 1 Thessalonians 2; Deuteronomy 9-10
“The LORD wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments he had proclaimed to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly. And the LORD gave them to me.
And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?
Yet the LORD set his affection on your ancestors and loved them, and he chose you, their descendants, above all the nations—as it is today. Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer.
Fear the LORD your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name.”
Deuteronomy 10:4, 12-13, 15-16, 20 NIV
If God even needs to have 10 Commandments to lead and manage His people, we should follow suit and have our own 10 or so Essentials that are compulsorily needed for us to observe - know therefore, we need rules and commands to govern and lead our lives! Zig Ziglar said, "If God would have wanted us to live in a permissive society He would have given us Ten Suggestions and not Ten Commandments". The beautiful part is that we have the Holy Spirit to empower us - we Christians are never alone! Praise be to God! Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:13). #devotion #law #rules #essentials #power #holyspirit https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
