Day 21: Psalm 1, Proverbs 20:22-24, Acts 1, Amos 5-6 Seek To Please God and Not Men "Take away from Me the noise of your songs, For I will not hear the melody of your stringed instruments. But let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream." Amos 5:23-24 NKJV I am not sure what your fear is. As for me, I fear that whatever I do or say, is not acceptable to my Creator God. Hence, my daily prayer is that found in Psalm 19:14 that says, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer." In today's reading, we can see yet another example of how God abhored the so-called worship of songs and melody from the string instruments. All God wanted was JUSTICE and RIGHTEOUSNESS. In fact, the aim of a true minister should be one that echoes what the Apostle Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 2:4 that, "just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we

Day 20:Psalm 150, Proverbs 20: 19-21, John 21, Amos 3-4 Prepare Ourselves To Meet God ““I also withheld rain from you, When there were still three months to the harvest. I made it rain on one city, I withheld rain from another city. One part was rained upon, And where it did not rain the part withered.” Amos 4:7 NKJV Lately, we heard of drastic change of climate in certain countries. Countries that do not have snow before suddenly experience snow. We know Who is in control of the nature. Our Creator God Who forms the mountain and creates the wind (Amos 4:13). Today, as we read Amos, God withheld rain in one city but caused another part of the city to have rain. The Lord God was waiting for the people to return to Him. In fact, He was preparing His people to meet Him (v12). How about now? Are we taking heed of the drastic change of climate as an indication from our Lord God that we need to prepare ourselves to meet Him? How prepared are we? Have we thought seriously about

Day 19:Psalm 149, Proverbs 20:16-18, John 20, Amos 1-2 We Are Assured of Justice From God This is what the Lord says: “For three sins of Israel, even for four, I will not relent. They sell the innocent for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals. They trample on the heads of the poor as on the dust of the ground and deny justice to the oppressed..." (Amos 2:6-7) We usually hear that God loves us. That is absolutely true and there is absolutely no doubt about God's love for us. But, we must never forget that our God is holy. He will execute acts of righteousness and justice as well. In today's reading of Amos, we can see how He would not relent but executed justice against Israel, Judah and all the neighbours' countries. Hence, we are assured of justice from our King of kings and Lord of lords. At the same time, God requires that we execute justice as stated in Micah 6:8, .."O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, a

Day 18: Psalm 148, Proverbs 20:13-15, John 19, Joel 3 Repent and Receive Jesus Today Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.” (John 19:11,NKJV) In law, there is such a thing called vicarious liability. Generally, it means that an employer will be held liable for any tort committed while an employee is conducting their duties. Today, we heard our dear Lord Jesus Himself said that the ones who handed Him over to be crucified were guilty of greater sins. We know who handed Him to Pilate. It was the people at large and that include you and me. Before we knew Christ, all of us committed a greater sin of not recognising and knowing that Jesus is God Himself and when we reject Him, we basically send Him to be crucified. But, thanks be to God! As long as we now repent and accept and acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God, He will live in us and we will live in Him (1

Day 17: Psalm 147, Proverbs 20:10-12, John 18, Joel 1-2 Be Sanctified “Blow the trumpet in Zion, Consecrate a fast, Call a sacred assembly; Gather the people, Sanctify the congregation, Assemble the elders, Gather the children and nursing babes; Let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, And the bride from her dressing room.” Joel 2:15-16 NKJV We can pray and fast. We can call upon God and even cry to Him for answers to our nation's economic and political issues. Today, God says through the book of Joel that even as we fast, we need to be sanctified. It means the assembly need to be cleansed and be purified from any known sins committed. God had asked for this same requirement from Joshua before (Joshua 7:1-26). There was a defeat at Ai and until and unless Joshua dealt with Achan's sin, we see that the Lord held the whole camp of Israel accountable for the act of one man and withheld His blessing until the matter was corrected. Hence, how important that the lea

Day 16: Psalm 146, Proverbs 20:7-9, John 17, Hosea 13-14 What A Promise! God In Us! "I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” (John 17:26, NKJV) In today's verse, we hear from Jesus Himself that He dwells in us. Yes, His Holy Spirit is in us. What a privilege that Christians have that God Himself dwells in us. It is confirmed in Ezekiel 36:25-27 that we are made clean from all filthiness and from all idols. God will give us a new heart and put a new Spirit within us and cause us to walk in His statutes and keep His Words and do them. All we need to do is to abide in Him. As we abide in Him, we are called to bear fruit so that whatever we ask in Jesus's Name, God the Father will give us (John 15:16). Andrew Murray, a leading Christian minister said this, "Follow me." When about to leave for heaven, He gave them a new word, in which their more intimate and spiritual union wit

Day 15: Psalm 145, Proverbs 20:4-6, John 16, Hosea 11-12 Know Jesus, Know Peace; No Jesus, No Peace "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, NKJV) We have heard the oft-quoted blessing, "The Lord bless you and keep you" from Numbers 6:24. In fact, this is the prayer the Lord instructed Moses to speak to Aaron to pray over the Israelites daily. This shows how the Lord wants to bless us daily. But, in today's reading of John, Jesus said that in this world we would have tribulation but be of good cheer, He has overcome the world. Yes, Jesus has overcome the world by His death on the cross so that we have this peace through faith in Jesus Christ. Since God longs to bless, His desire is for all to have the true everlasting peace with Him in Heaven. He wants everyone to have this peace that transcends all understanding in the midst of tribu

Day 14: Psalm 144, Proverbs 20:1-3, John 15, Hosea 9-10 Pray Specifically and In All Aspects Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners, Whose mouth speaks lying words, And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood (Psalm 144:11, NKJV) This world is full of evil. We may not know whether the people around us are actually our friends or foes. They maybe plotting something or accusing someone just for the position that they are eyeing. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. People strive for power and higher position to satisfy their selfish ambition. Hence, it is so apt to pray like today's Psalmist that we may be rescued and delivered from those who speak lying words and from those who practise falsehood, just like in the Lord's prayer, "lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil ones" (Matthew 6:9-13). Pray unceasingly IN ALL ASPECTS! https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC (please click to view a visual)

Day 13: Psalm 143, Proverbs 19:28-29, John 14, Hosea 7-8 Jesus is THE WAY Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6, NKJV) If you are finding a missing person, you will be relieved if somone comes up to you and informs that he or she knows the way. This is exactly what our beloved Jesus informed us. He not only know the way but He IS THE WAY. He had gone ahead of us to prepare mansions for us and He promised He will come again and receive us to Himself(verses 2-4)! What a Glorious Revelation! What a Blessed Assurance! What a Great Promise. With this, we have hope as God's plan for our lives is not dependant on what is past. His plan for us is dependant on His promise. Trust Jesus today. https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC (please click to view a visual)

Day 12: Psalm 142, Proverbs 19:25-27, John 13, Hosea 5-6 Humble Ourselves Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. (John 13:3-4, NKJV) I am sure we have heard people say that humility is a strange thing; the minute you think you have gotten it, you have lost it. Humility is a rare commodity but a very much needed character for one to possess. The question is how do we possess such quality? The answer is in today's verse where we learn from Jesus on how He humbled Himself to wash His disciples' feet. He could do so because He knew that He had been given all things by His Father and that He had come from God and was going to God. Generally, Christians should be humble because we know we are the princes and princesses of the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Knowing our "royal's status", there is no pro

Day 11: Psalm 141, Proverbs 19: 22-24, John 12, Hosea 3,4 God Will Judge "But my eyes are upon You, O God the Lord; In You I take refuge; Do not leave my soul destitute. Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, And from the traps of the workers of iniquity. Let the wicked fall into their own nets, While I escape safely." - Psalm 141:8-10 Life is an examination. Each and everyone of us are being tested. Just as the examinations that we have taken, some score with flying colours, some pass and some fail. It is normal. The good news is that it is not the end when we fail but to look and to learn from the mistakes and see how we can do better to score higher. The privilege of believers is that we can fix our eyes upon our Heavenly Father, Whom we can take refuge and we can be rest assured that God will judge and take to tasks those workers of iniquity (Psalm 141:8-10). Let us therefore face this life's examination with sober mind and with perseverence, trusting Go

Day 10: Psalm 140, Proverbs 19:19-21, John 11, Hosea 1, 2 God Be Glorified In John 11:4, Jesus said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” This whole episode started with Meng Wai feeling sick. Therefore, my prayer and hope is that his sickness will glorify God and may Jesus be glorified through it all. I want to echo the prayer of the Psalmist in Psalm 140:6-8, “You are my God; Hear the voice of my supplications, O Lord . O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation, You have covered my head in the day of battle. Do not grant, O Lord , the desires of the wicked; Do not further his wicked scheme, Lest they be exalted." The wicked's desires is to harm and destroy. I will go against it in Jesus' Name, Amen! https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC (please click this link to view a visual).

Day 8: Psalm 138, Proverbs 19:13-15, John 9, Daniel 11-12 Full Confidence In God My husband is missing for one week already as of today. Exactly last Tuesday morning, he texted me that he was not feeling well. I went home during lunch time to see him and to give him medicine. After he rested, I went back to work. I could not share this earlier as police said it may be a kidnapping case.Since no call for 1 week, police ruled out this possibility. It is difficult for me to take this uncertainty. My question to God is, "Why? What have I done wrongly? Why is this thing happened to me? Am I not faithfully serving You? Even my husband - he went full time immediately after his tertiary graduation and this attracted me to him. Lord, I do not want to be like Job - the process is too painful. Have mercy on us. Lord, I know I can cry out to you and rely on You fully." Today's Word for me is John 9:31 that says God hears from the man who is a worshipper of God and who does Hi

Day 9: Psalm 139, Proverbs 19:16-18, John 10, Daniel 13-14 We Are Safe In God's Hand First and foremost, I truly want to record my deepest appreciation for all the care, concern, prayers and love that have been showered upon my family. The number of calls and messages that came in are too many for me to reply and for that I sincerely apologize. I thank God for the assurance given to me again today that God, our Father who has given us, believers to Jesus, He Himself will ensure that no one is able to snatch us out of our Heavenly Father's hand (John 10:29). Hence, I have absolute confidence that my husband is in the hand of our Almighty and Loving Father. I shall not worry, fear nor fret. I will entrust this matter to God as He has granted me favour that this case is now handled personally by a very high ranking police personnel in the CID. I will just sing my favourite hymn, Trust and Obey:"When we walk with the Lord; In the light of His word; What a glory He sheds o

Day 7: Psalm 137, Proverbs 19:10-12, John 8, Daniel 9-10 Pray Without Ceasing In Daniel 10, we have a glimpse of the spiritual realm. An angel spoke to Daniel in verse 12 that the angel came to the rescue because of Daniel's prayer in Chapter 9. Subsequently, he said he was delayed for 21 days because of the spiritual warfare. Only after the 21 days that the angel could come to Daniel to make him understand the vision. How important then that we must pray regularly and earnestly like Daniel for our unsaved loved ones so that there will be no delay in causing them to understand the work of the Cross of Calvary for their redemption of their sins. Therefore, let us endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (2 Timothy 2:3 & Ephesians 6:1). Today, attend a prayer meeting

Day 6: Psalm 136, Proverbs 19:7-9, John 7, Daniel 7-8 In God's Time There is time for everything! Jesus replied His brothers in John 7:6-9 that “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready. You go up to this feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, for My time has not yet fully come.” Hence, Jesus remained in Galilee. In Daniel 8:27, Daniel fainted and was sick for days, afterwhich he arose and went about the king’s business. This shows that God has His timing. There are times when we are busy going and doing about our Heavenly Father's business. There are times when we may fall sick and we need to rest. We do not need to feel guilty when we are deemed unproductive in God's Kingdom. Follow's God's agenda, just as Jesus who did not go up to the feast and remained in Galilee. It is better to be obedient than to offer sacrifices (1 Samuel 15:22). Listen to and obey God's will and follow His way. https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC (please click thi

Day 5: Psalm 135, Proverbs 19:4-6, John 6, Daniel 5-6 Believe In People Believing in someone is so crucial. When there is no trust in a husband-wife relationship, it is meaningless. In fact, in all relationships, trust is the crucial factor. Imagine the scenario - the employer does not trust the worker and hence, the employer will have no peace and will keep checking and even spy at his or her workers. A teacher who doubts the students will not entrust responsibilities to them and the students will not learn and grow. Jesus said in no uncertain terms that it is the will of our Heavenly Father who sent Him that everyone who sees the Son and BELIEVES in Him may have everlasting life and He WILL raise him up at the last day (John 6:40). Needless to say that in John 3:16, it is again crystal clear that whoeversoever BELIEVES in Him shall not perish but shall have everlasting life. Henceforth, just as God's requirement is just for us to believe in Him, let us believe in our fellow h

Day 4: Psalm 134, Proverbs 19:1-3, John 5, Daniel 3, 4 Ask and You Shall Receive In the account of where a man was healed at the pool of Bethesda in John 5, Jesus seemed to ask the obvious when He knew that the man had infirmity for 38 years already YET he asked, "Do you want to be made well?". Why was it so? This is exactly the same question that people ask as to why we need to pray as God knows all. The answer is actually simple. God just want to have relationship with us. He chose us way before the creation of the world to be adopted as His children (Ephesians 1:4). Isn't it wonderful to know our God is our Father who just love and long to hear us? Pray, pour out your hearts' contents, communicate, talk, hear, listen and at times just be silent before Him today! https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC (please click to view a visual).

Day 3: Psalm 133, Proverbs 18:22-24, John 4, Daniel 1,2 Purpose In Our Heart Some decisions need to be made from the very onset. Imagine an emergency landing - if the policy of the airline company has NOT been determined, the crew will be at a lost as to who will be sent for landing first. If the policy has been clear and been taught properly to all the crews that the elderly and the children must be given priority, the process will definitely be smoother. In the Old Testament, Daniel had done that. He purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself from the very beginning (Daniel 1:8). Hence, learning from this, it is good at the beginning of the year that we resolve and make some decisions in areas of our lives to give priority to God and family. Examples of decision for consideration can be, "No Bible,no Breakfast" or "No Handphone During Meals With Family". Theodore Roosevelt said, “In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right th

Day 2: Psalm 132, Proverbs 18:19-21, John 3, Ezekiel 48 The Power of Words Recall the words that have comforted you and the words that have caused you hurt. Words are so powerful that they can either break or build you up. In today's Proverbs 18:19-21, it is said that "A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city.. Death and life are in the power of the tongue." How important then that we must be prudent in our words. What kind of words are best recommended? John 3:32-34 give us good advice. What we have seen and heard of God, we testify these things. Basically, we testify that God is true and speak the Words of God. A good start will be to listen to the sermon today and share with someone to encourage him or her. And on a daily basis, to read God's Word and share with someone thereafter. https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC (please click to view a visual).

Day 1: Psalm 131, Proverbs 18:16-18, John 2, Ezekiel 46, 47 Make A Wise Choice From The Beginning Blessed New Year to All! River depicts the Holy Spirit. In Exekiel 47:9, it is said that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live...for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes. It means if we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, we will live and be healed. It is true that God always let us choose-either narrow or broad way, serve Him or mammon, please God or man and choose hell or Heaven. God is a GentleMan - He will not force us nor demand from us. He gives us choices. Dr James Dobson rightly said, "God gave us a free choice as there is no significance to love that knows no alternative." Let us make a wise choice today, the first day of the year! Let us follow the example of Joshua “choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve...But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Joshua 24:15) https://twitt
