Day 171 - God Just Want To Be With Us
Read: Psalm 129; Proverbs 5:1-3; 2 Peter 1; 1 Samuel 14-15
1 Samuel 15:24 Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned. I violated the LORD’s command and your instructions. I was afraid of the men and so I gave in to them.
25 Now I beg you, forgive my sin and come back with me, so that I may worship the LORD.”
26 But Samuel said to him, “I will not go back with you. You have rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD has rejected you as king over Israel!”
When I first read the above verses, I was asking myself as to why God was so "cold". Why did He still reject King Saul when he had "repented". I was meditating over these verses for weeks. Then, I was prompted to refer 2 Samuel 12:13 as to what King David uttered after prophet Nathan revealed his terrible sins, "I have sinned against the LORD." Just this short sentence. He did not give any excuse or even attempted to justify his wrongdoings. He recognised that he had sinned against his Lord. There is this element of relationship. He knew God personally. Comparing with what King Saul had said, He did not say he sinned against God. It is as if he just recognised that it was just a mere wrong because he violated a command or a rule or an instruction. Saul was legalistic in his approach. This is so crucial to know. God wants and longs to RELATE with us personally. In fact, eternal life is defined in John 17:3 as, "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." Oh. dear Lord, please forgive us for failing to recognise your heartbeat. You long and desire to just know and relate with us. Help us to know You more and more each day - know how You feel, think and Your likes and dislikes. Help us just to love you, embrace You, be with You and enjoy You. Thank You for your immense and immeasurable love for us. Amen. https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC #GodIsLove #FatherLove #LoveOfGod #devotion #repentance
