Day 56: Rejoice Over The Success Of Others
Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these parables, that He departed from there. When He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works? Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?” So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

By right, when our loved ones or even our friends or acquaintances achieve something, we should rejoice together with them. Nevertheless, we do know that there are people who are not so. Instead of rejoicing, they are envious and even hurling hurting allegations. This is exactly what happened to our dear Lord Jesus. When He went to his own hometown, He was being doubted and not welcomed, resulting that not many mighty works were done by Jesus because of their unbelief. Apostle Paul exhorted us to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep and be of the same mind toward one another (Romans 12:15). Truly, we need to check our hearts as to why we are not rejoicing. If it is due to envy, be mindful of 1 Corinthians 13 as to the definition of love.
