Day 13: Make Our Lives Count For Jesus
Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

I am sure all of us have tasted bland food before. Sometimes, it is just because the cook has forgotten to put a pinch of salt. Jesus used salt as an object lesson for us. He used strong words - that is, if the salt loses its flavor,it is good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. Huh! It means if we, Christians do not add flavor to the lives of others, if we do not contribute, bless, inspire, impact, influence and ultimately transform people's lives to bring them nearer to Jesus, we may be considered good for nothing. This metaphor may not mean that tasteless disciples lose their salvation. It may mean tasteless disciples are not fulfilling the purpose for which Jesus called them. However, we should ponder hard and take a good look at our lives to see whether we truly abide in Christ as a similar judgment was used by Jesus in John 15:5-6 and whether our lives count for others. Abraham Lincoln said, "And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC (please click to view a visual)
