Day 34: Know That God Will Speak Through Us
“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues. You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
Matthew 10:16-20 NKJV

From this passage, we can see that God will empower His people to speak in the midst of persecution. But, this is not a case for us to give as an excuse for not preparing well. I do experience before how certain verses came to mind so aptly and promptly when I was defending my faith. This is all because I had read those verses before. It is either I had highlighted the verses when I studied my Bible or I jotted down those verses when I heard a sermon. How important that we need to do our part to faithfully read His Word and we then we have the assurance of God's promise that those words will come to us when the need arises. This is what William Barclay, a Scottish minister, author and professor commented, "It was not the humiliation which early Christians dreaded, not even the cruel pain and the agony. But many of them feared that their own unskilfulness with words and in defence might injure rather than commend the truth. It is the promise of God that when a man is on trial for his faith, the words will come to him." https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC (please click to view a visual)
