Nowadays, people spent so much money, time and effort to prepare for their weddings and even pre-weddings' photography sessions. But, the sad reality is the rate of divorce is also in the increase. I have had the experience whereby there were walk-in enquiries for divorce in the morning, lunch time and just before I left my office at 6pm ++ ALL in the SAME DAY! What could be the reason(s)? In 1 Corinthians 11:3, Apostle Paul said, "... I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God." 1 Kings 11:3-7 further said King Solomon's wives turned away his heart. For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David. Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord , and did not fully follow the Lord , as did his father David. The family's pattern that God has established is one where Christ must ...
As Christians, we have access to the King of kings and the Lord of lords through the Name of our beloved Jesus Christ as stated in John 14:13,"..whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If you ask anything in My name, I will do it." With such power and privileges accorded to us, we are to not just to pray for ourselves but for others. King Solomon set a very good examples and his intercession prayers are beautifully recorded in 1 Kings 8. An example is in verses 38-40, "whatever prayer, whatever supplication is made by anyone, or by all Your people Israel, when each one knows the plague of his own heart, and spreads out his hands toward this temple: then hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and act, and give to everyone according to all his ways, whose heart You know (for You alone know the hearts of all the sons of men), that they may fear You all the days that they live in the land which You gave to our fat...
Yesterday, we know that the LAST command of our beloved Jesus to us  was to make disciples and hence that should be our FIRST concern. In fact, Apostle Paul had this to say in 1 Corinthians 9:16, "yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!" He further went on to say in verses 26 and 27 that "Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one  who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified." I think it is a very good piece of advice from Apostle Paul. As we labour in the Lord, let us not forget to discipline ourselves. The word "discipline" connotes an effort on our part not to let our guard down and not to be carefree but be careful to continue our usual spiritual habits of reading His Word, praying and spending time with God, else we ourselves may not be qualified. https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
I have 1 question for you, that is, "how well do we know God?". We may answer that we know God well as we read the Bible from cover to cover. However, a more poignant question to ask is "how well does God know us?" In 1 Corinthians 8:2, it says, "..if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him." This verse provides the answer - we need to love God, then we will be known by God! Obviously, the next question to ask is how do we love God? I suggest 3 Essentials - love Him by reading His word, pray and spend time with Him personally and corporately in church. 2ndly, love Him by loving others by just smiling to others, rendering help and forgiving them 70x7times if any wrong done. 3rdly, love Him by merely obeying His will to go and share Christ and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching th...
I am sure we have heard of the challenge some young men receive to prove themselves men, they need to smoke or they need to drink. But in 1 Kings 2:2-4, King David's challenge  to his son to prove himself a man, he needed to keep the charge of the Lord his God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that he may prosper in all that he does and wherever he turn; that the Lord may fulfill His word which He spoke concerning King David, saying, ‘If your sons take heed to their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul,’ He said, ‘you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.’  How important then to ensure we are in good company -  in a company of men and women who give us the right challenge in life, lest we fall in the temptation and depart from the truth. Do pray the Lord's Prayer daily. (Matthew 6:9-13) https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
At times, we do ask as to how could a good God allow such crimes, violences, injustices and wickedness occur again and again as if no judgment is executed against them. However, in II Samuel 24:1, we have a glimpse of what God actually did against all the wickedness in Israel at that time. It says, "... the anger of the Lord was aroused against Israel, and He moved David against them to say, “Go, number Israel and Judah.” This act of numbering the people was actually a sin that caused God to punish Israel whereby 70,000 men died (verses 10, 14 & 17). Hope this will cause us to have fear of God - to know that our God is a holy God and He cannot tolerate wickedness. We do not need to sigh when the wicked seems to prosper for we know our God is just. The wicked shall perish;  the enemies of the Lord , like the splendor of the meadows, shall vanish. Into smoke they shall vanish away.(Psalm 37:20) https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
I could recall how I was not so prepared for one particular subject and hence, I prayed very hard just a day before the examination. And the Words that came to me was from 2 Samuel 22:29-31, that says “For You are my lamp, O Lord ; The Lord shall enlighten my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop; By my God I can leap over a wall. As  for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord  is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him." Wow! These few verses did wonders for me. The level of confidence that I had soar like an eagle and guess what? I did very well for that particular paper. How true that we must have faith in His Word, especially Words that He specifically gives us. Hence, spend time with God to listen to Him, in particular when you need special direction and guidance from Him. https://twitter.com/EstherOngHC
